9th Annual San Francisco International Women’s Film Festival Announces Call For Entries
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 25, 2013 -- The Women’s Film Institute (WFI) announces its call for film entries in all genres for the 9th annual San Francisco International Women’s Film Festival (SFIWFF). The festival will showcase a special program of short films directed by women, to help commemorate Women's History Month on March 7th, 20th and 29th, 2014.
"We’re open to professional and amateur filmmakers of narrative, documentary, music video, animation, and experimental works," says festival executive director Scarlett Shepard.
SFIWFF accepts films of all genres 20 minutes or less in length: narrative, documentary, experimental, animation and new media. Films must be directed or co–directed by women. SFIWFF 2014 will be joining a worldwide celebration of women artists as part of the 7th Annual International "Support Women Artists Now Day" (SWAN Day). SWAN Day is designed to showcase the power and diversity of women's creativity. The mayors of New York, Boston, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and several other cities have officially recognized SWAN Day and there have been over 1,000 SWAN Day events in 23 countries in the first six years of this new holiday.
Since its founding in 2004, SFIWFF has worked to nurture the talents of women storytellers through events led by celebrities, community activists, professors, and notable figures in the world of film such as Danny Glover, Carrie Preston, Judy Irving, Penelope Spheeris, Isabel Allende, Lourdes Portillo, Tanya Wright, and Judith Helfand.
