A young queer woman lost in social constructs neglects her dragumed intuition while searching for her essence of home
K.C. LaSaga announces the release of 'Dragum'
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec. 7, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "I was inspired to write this book to demonstrate how easily depression can creep in over repetitive unhealthy behaviors, toxic positivity and of course, time. I was inspired to write this book to prosper hope for anyone experiencing something similar as I. I was inspired to write this book to give a voice to the queer community. Most importantly, I was inspired to write this book for the runaways who are simply looking for a place to call home," K.c. LaSaga states.
"DRAGUM" (published by iUniverse) tells the story of a nomadic Kali Colombe who falls into a risqué relationship with a woman, which is disapproved by her parents and brings a halt to her Parisian travel plans. In search of home, Kali purchases an impressionable condo and settles into adulthood with her newfound love. However, tables turn when Kali is consumed by the needs of others, and is forced to fight to find her true sense of self in a world that has placed her in a box.
"My book was written, in part, while I was depressed. My words are raw and my personal emotions are accurately documented. I have been told DRAGUM feels like a private journal by early readers because of its intimate nature. My book also blends Kali's frequent nightmares and waking world to welcome an altered perspective to Kali's reality. One where she can function just enough to get by each day, somewhat unnoticed. Kali also shares an afterworld narrative with her grandfather 'Pop', who becomes her voice of reason. Pop watches Kali crumble under the pressure of expectation, providing insight into Kali's suppressed livelihood which has been magnificently masked since childhood," LaSaga explains.
When asked what she wants readers to take away from the book, LaSaga answers, "I hope readers can take away a greater sense of self from my writing. I want them to grow with Kali. I want them to feel her love, her passion, her sadness, her hate. I want the reader to feel human from experiencing all the emotions that come naturally to us. I want the reader to take away the human experience from my writing." For more details about the book, please visit https://www.iuniverse.com/en/bookstore/bookdetails/822725-dragum
