Ellen Leaf-Dumas plans to reprint each of the six novels with previously unreleased documents and will carry on the investigations in Frank Spiering’s name.
LOS ANGELES, CA., September 20, 2018 – As the celebrated movie, “Lizzie,” an American biographical thriller based on the true story of Lizzie Borden who was accused and acquitted of the ax-murders of her father and stepmother in Fall River Massachusetts in 1892 was released last week, Ellen Leaf-Dumas announced the purchase of the rights to the book entitled “Lizzie,” and other titles by best-selling author, Broadway writer, and often referred to as the “Columbo of True Crime,” Frank Spiering. Leaf-Dumas plans to reprint Spiering’s books with unreleased documents and new investigations, with “Lizzie” being the first reprint.

Published by Random House in 1984, the critically acclaimed story reconstructs the events leading up to the Borden murders and their aftermath with a unique take on the Lizzie Borden killings. The novel includes a new explanation that fits all of the facts, to provide an account of this celebrated crime and of the personality of Lizzie Borden and her sister Emma. His theory stated in the novel is that Lizzie Borden’s sister Emma committed the murders so the will and estate went solely to her. The film released Friday, “Lizzie,” has a different new theory, Lizzie and the maid were lovers and conspired. But there’s that little problem with the will again…

Spiering published six novels in his career, including “Bearer Of a Million Dreams,” “Berserker,” “Lizzie,” “The Man Who Got Capone,” “Who Killed Polly,” and most significantly, “Prince Jack.” This best-selling Doubleday title created a worldwide sensation in 1978 implicating Jack the Ripper as a member of Britain's Royal Family. The book was immediately banned in England and had to be smuggled into the country wrapped in brown paper to avoid confiscation by British Customs. The book continues to sell on Amazon with a strong cult following as a collector’s item. Frank’s son, John, recently uncovered a lost chapter amongst his deceased father's writings based on the notes of Royal Physician Sir William Gull providing the key evidence pointing to the Queen's Great Uncle and once heir to the throne of England, Prince Edward Duke of Clarence as Jack The Ripper. The one and only copy of the original notes were inexplicably housed at New York's Academy of Medicine and immediately vanished after the book’s publication.
