HOCKESSIN, Del., Feb. 2, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Author Max Matteson grew up in a broken home in the Midwest and overcome the hardship he faced in order to succeed. In his memoir, "A Life's Story," he reflects on over nine decades of life experiences and how with perseverance, he was able to flourish professionally and personally.
Growing up in the Midwest, Matteson attended Ann Arbor High School and became the captain of the football team. He entered the United States Naval Academy and graduated in June of 1953 as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He served on two ships, sailing around the world on various missions. He resigned in 1957 and began his second career, a digital computer programmer. He worked with the Burroughs Corporation on numerous government and military contracts for NASA's Atlas, Mercury and Gemini programs, the U.S. Army, Fort Richie, NORAD and the Navy's Polaris System. After working on several civilian projects while employed at Honeywell and Fischer & Porter, Matteson launched his career as an independent digital computer software consultant and worked on government contracts from NASA and the NSA. He later began his career at DuPont Engineering where he spent two decades.
Throughout his professional experience, Matteson also thrived in his personal life. He married his wife Ruth on December 23, 1955. In 1971, he met his little brother John as part of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and later joined the organization's board. In the book, Matteson shares stories of his children growing up, enjoying time at their home in Maryland and trips to the French Riviera, London and Cape May.
Ultimately, "A Life's Story" reveals through personal anecdotes how a typical American man was able to turn his dysfunctional upbringing into a compelling story of happiness and success. Matteson hopes that his stories will inspire others to live an honorable and purposeful life.
