Belatrix Software Welcomes Agile Development Co-Founder, Alistair Cockburn, to Its Headquarters
(PRWEB) November 13, 2018 -- Belatrix Software, a leading software development company, was delighted to welcome Alistair Cockburn, one of the founders of the Agile software development methodology, to its headquarters in Mendoza, Argentina.
Mr Cockburn visited Belatrix to share his latest thinking about Agile, in what he calls the “Heart of Agile”, where he simplifies Agile into four core elements: collaborate, deliver, reflect, and improve. As he mentioned during the talk, what is important for software teams today, is to determine if they are effective or not. There are a lot of rules in Scrum, but individuals and teams need to instead focus on being effective. Focusing on these four elements, rather than adhering rigidly to the rules of Scrum, helps teams produce the desired results.
At the beginning of the talk, Mr Cockburn shared how his journey with Agile began back in 1991 as he tried to decode what successful software development teams were doing and how this set them apart. These early ideas during the 1990s were what contributed to writing the Agile manifesto in Utah in 2001. This manifesto combined the ideas of Mr Cockburn along with those of his co-authors. It brought together methodologies ranging from extreme programming, Scrum, rapid application development, Crystal Clear, and others.
Mr Cockburn also spoke about the “Shu Ha Ri” concept that describes how individuals move from knowing little about a topic to obtaining mastery. As you become an expert, it enables you to learn from your own experiences and quickly adapt to circumstances as they present themselves.
