Bigger, Better and More Interactive: 2023 International Mass Timber Conference Expected to Set Attendance Record
In addition to 60+ education presentations, the conference's Exhibit Hall welcomes live mass timber construction, modular mass timber housing, interactive research, and more.
PORTLAND, Ore., March 1, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The International Mass Timber Conference, the world's largest mass timber gathering, returns to Portland, Oregon, March 27-29, 2023. Record attendance of over 2,400 from over 35 countries is expected, reflecting the growing interest in mass timber construction worldwide.
Over 330 attendees will participate in sold out pre-conference tours of Portland and Eugene, Oregon, mass timber building and manufacturing facilities on Monday, March 27. Others have an opportunity to attend a design 101 workshop that same day titled "Mass Timber Boot Camp: Becoming a Mass Timber Design Expert." The workshop is presented by conference co-producer, WoodWorks. A popular Welcome Reception that Monday evening will officially launch the start of conference festivities and is open to all attendees. A second Happy Hour Reception takes place on Tuesday evening.
Keynote presentations are:
"For Whom / By Whom: Social Equity and Mass Timber." Moderated by Anyeley Hallova, Founder of Adre, the roundtable panel will feature a broad spectrum of Industry and civic leaders, all from Portland, discussing how mass timber can help address social equity and how we can better bring green, healthy buildings to communities of color and those with lower incomes that normally do not have access to them.
"Are We There Yet? Carbon, Construction & Credibility." This roundtable discussion moderated by Michael Goergen, VP of Innovation, U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities, with a panel of international guests addresses the role that forests, forest management, mass timber, and other construction innovations can play in shaping our carbon future.
"Buildings of the Future: The Next Evolution of Wood." World-renowned mass timber architect Michael Green returns to the conference for the first time since opening the very first event in 2016. Back from the adventure of a lifetime climbing one of the world's most sought-after peaks, and inspired by the beauty — and demise — of our natural environment, Michael will talk about the next evolution of wood construction and explore a new approach that could change the nature of our built environment — and our future.
