Bill Hulsey Patent Lawyer Establishes Global Patent Portfolio for KissCam® Arena Game
HULSEY PC Serves KissCam® to Achieve Worldwide Patent Coverage within A Year
AUSTIN, Texas, July 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In little more than one year, the globally-famous KissCam® sports arena and entertainment video has achieved valuable patent rights protecting new versions of its public display of affection (PDA) in their Contest in the Arena to win a prize. In early 2018, KissCam® founder and CEO, Dana Veitch, searched globally to determine the potential for patent rights in the U.S. and abroad. Since then, the company has received three U.S. patents, as well as initial indication from the United Nations' World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) of future success in pursuing patents worldwide for exciting new versions of its popular entertainment platform. KissCam LLC also holds trademarks for KissCam and KissCam.com worldwide. Using a combination of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) Track One filing procedures and active collaboration with USPTO examiners, KissCam® has achieved rapid and successful U.S. and international patent results.
According to Veitch, "The Contest in the Arena is a game changer that generates fan engagement while the venue enjoys advertising revenues and gathers valuable data" to serve its clientele.
KissCam®'s first patent, No. 10,162,839, was filed on March 30, 2018 and issued just nine months later on Christmas Day 2018 with the title "Method and System for Collecting, and Globally Communicating and Evaluating, Digital Still and Video Images of Sports and Event Spectators." Since this original filing, the company has successfully pursued the similarly titled U.S. Patent No. 10,248,665, and the recently-allowed U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 16/368,715, as well as an international PCT patent application. On July 1, 2019, the PCT application received a 100% positive report from WIPO to pave the way for upcoming successful and expedited worldwide patent procurement efforts. WIPO's examination reported all of its PCT patent claims as novel, inventive and industrially applicable—a difficult achievement for most on-line games. KissCam® now can access up to 152 countries across the globe to establish valuable patent rights.
In KissCam®'s recently allowed U.S. patent and PCT application claim exciting novel augmented reality updates of its popular game. The new patent includes a contest method and system with an advertisement and contest invitation for use with a spectator event. Within an electronically geofenced perimeter of the event, digital images are submitted for contest participation. The digital images may include friends, family members and pets portraying PDA, including kissing and hugging between and amongst them all. The affection-demonstrating digital images may include augmented reality (AR) images from spectators located within the electronically geofenced perimeter of the spectator event. From these images, candidates for the KissCam® game can receive votes from the entire global audience, both those inside and outside the geofenced perimeter. Game winners receiving the most votes from the global spectator community have opportunities for prizes.
Bill Hulsey, patent lawyer for KissCam®, and principal of Austin patent firm, HULSEY PC, said "I could not be happier for KissCam® and hope that these many patent successes result in both financial success for the company and the ability for the entire world to participate in the fun and excitement that the KissCam arena and television studio provides.
Dana Veitch began his career as an entrepreneur in the energy business. In 2011, Veitch recognized the opportunity of trademarking and digitizing the well-known KissCam into a social media app. With broad vision, he decided to expand the KissCam® experience from North American sports arenas and take it worldwide. After securing his KissCam brand with trademarks, Veitch created the now patented "Contest in the Arena."
