Building New York While Building Families: Workers at the TWA Hotel Construction Site Benefit from Access to Nursing Station
NEW YORK, New York (PRWEB) July 18, 2018 -- Nursing mothers working at the TWA Hotel construction site now have a convenient, comfortable and private place to pump: a lactation pod. Designed by Mamava, the mobile pod — which has a smart lock, power outlets and a seating area — will be located at the site as the hotel’s 512 guest rooms and 50,000 square feet of event space are completed for a spring 2019 opening. The pod is the first of many Turner will deploy on projects across the country.
“More than 400 people come to work each day to build the TWA Hotel,” says Mary Mahany, Senior Project Manager at Turner Construction Company. “Offering mothers access to a Mamava pod within an active construction site, which itself is located within a very busy and active airport, is an important way we welcome mothers back from having children. This is a huge part of what it means to support and advance the role of women in the workforce.”

A nursing pod is an incredibly simple and yet meaningful way to make coming back to work more convenient and comfortable for moms.”
