CGTN UN: The ‘Journey through Civilizations’ Exhibit held at the UN Headquarters
WASHINGTON (PRWEB) June 29, 2023 -- The “Journey through Civilizations” exhibit, organized by China’s CCTV United Nations Bureau, is getting underway at the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday. The exhibit runs from June 26th through July 7, 2023.
There will be an official launch ceremony Thursday, June 29 beginning at 6pm at the South Wall area of the UN.
The exhibit is an interactive trip into the power of art, history and innovation aimed at creating a platform to encourage dialogue, reflection, and appreciation in our interconnected world. Through a collection of cutting-edge interactive and a large display of cultural and creative Chinese artifacts, the exhibit will take visitors inside – The Intangible Cultural Heritage of China and the World.
The launch ceremony is expected to bring together hundreds of guests including senior UN officials, permanent representatives to the UN, and international VIP guests, as well as other dignitaries to honor the diversity of civilizations and promote dialogue and mutual learning among different cultures.
Artists from China and North America will also present interactive cultural demonstrations and performances, including music, calligraphy, a tea ceremony, and ear acupuncture.
The exhibition includes a high-tech virtual display. "Civilization in Archaeology" will allow players to become "time travelers" who travel back through time and space thousands of years ago to explore Chinese civilization. Participants will interact with characters and face challenges and puzzles. This is the first time the UN incorporates a high-tech virtual game-like program into a traditional exhibition. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how ancient civilizations were formed.
This “Journey Through Civilizations”, supported by Chinese permanent mission to the UN, Sino-American Friendship Association and UNSRC Chinese Book Club, aims to bridge cultural divides. Through a blend of tangible and intangible exhibits it is designed to be used as a platform for member states to showcase the richness of their cultures, arts, traditions and historical narratives.
