CS Energy Wins Award for Promoting Culture of Safety in the Workplace
New Jersey Governor's Occupational Safety and Health Awards Program presents awards to employers for safety records
EDISON, N.J., Aug. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- CS Energy (formerly Conti Solar) a leading integrated energy company that develops, designs and builds optimized projects in the solar, storage and emerging energy industries, is proud to announce winning the Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development Certificate, for achievement in the prevention of occupational injuries during calendar year 2018.
Part of the 91st Annual Governor's Occupational Safety and Health Awards Program, the Commissioner of Labor and Workforce Development Certificate is awarded to "an establishment that has participated in the program for three consecutive calendar years." Recipients must have previously received the Division of Public Safety & Occupational Safety & Health Certificate. DART and TRC* (illness and injury) rates from the preceding calendar year are used to determine a participant's eligibility. OSHA record-keeping standards are the basis for reporting. The establishment must also affirm that it has a continuing, effective safety and health program in place and that a comprehensive safety and health survey of the workplace was completed within the past 5 years.

In July 1935, the NJ State Industrial Safety Committee was formed, and included a program to present awards to industries in the State having good safety records. This Awards Program, now known as the "Governor's Occupational Safety & Health Awards Program", is presently in its 91st year and is open to both private and public employers regardless of size.
In solar, as with all categories of construction industry, the company's safety record is measured by the amount of employee injuries and lost time due to injuries. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) monitors each company's Total Recordable Incident Rate. (TRIR). The industry average TRIR is 2.6 for Power and Communication line and related structures construction*. CS Energy's TRIR is 0.00.
