Cal Maritime Cadets Awarded Crowley Memorial Scholarships
Crowley awards two Cal Maritime cadets with its Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarship.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Oct. 12, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Crowley has awarded California State University Maritime Academy cadets Danny Gonzalez and Jack Reasoner with its Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarship in recognition of their success and pursuit of maritime careers. Each recipient exemplifies the company's values of integrity, sustainability and drive through their work at the academy and time spent on Crowley-managed vessels.
A junior from Inglewood, California, Gonzalez is studying for a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with a U.S. Coast Guard Third Assistant Engineer license. Gonzalez has served as the squad leader and officer for the academy's Corps of Cadets Second Engineering Division. Recently completing his cadet shipping term aboard the Crowley-managed tanker MV American Liberty, Gonzalez looks forward to sailing with Crowley once he graduates and continues to fulfill his commitment with the U.S. Navy Reserves as a part of the academy's Strategic Sealift Midshipmen Program.
Reasoner, a junior from Jacksonville, Florida, is pursuing a bachelor's degree in marine transportation with a U.S. Coast Guard Third Mate license. Reasoner volunteers with the Cadet Boat Program, training fellow cadets on small boat handling and volunteers as the Oakland Seaman Center to provide COVID-19 vaccines to mariners aboard foreign-flagged vessels. Completing his cadet shipping term aboard the Crowley-managed tanker MV Golden State, Reasoner looks forward to sailing with Crowley's tanker fleet once he graduates.
