Celebrated Playwright Dr. Cesi Davidson To Host Staged Reading At The George Bruce Library in Harlem in Support of At-Risks Arts Program
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 01, 2023 -- Cesi Davidson, the resident playwright at the George Bruce Library (518 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027), is the founder and curator of the program entitled "Short Plays to Nourish the Mind & Soul.” This program provided the community with monthly staged readings before the pandemic. It received numerous accolades, including the 2015 Star Participant award from WNYC/WQXR for its contributions to the city's vibrant theatre, reaching countless New Yorkers and visitors to the Harlem area.
As the author of three anthologies of plays published by Aqueduct Press, “Articulation,” “Fricatives,” and “Bilabials,” her writing has reached national and international audiences. Her forthcoming collections include "America Acirema," and “Stop Plosive.” Her groundbreaking full-length play, “Raw Truth,” celebrating abolitionist Sojourner Truth, earned her “Pride of Ulster County” recognition.
In addition to her work in the arts, Davidson holds a doctoral degree in speech-language-hearing sciences and is a licensed speech-language pathologist. She is the founder of Articulation NY, an upcoming independent publisher.
The staged reading on June 17 will provide outstanding free entertainment while celebrating Davidson's fantastic body of work. It will also be a rallying cry to support this vital arts program. Programs like this provide access to the professional arts for all.
