Celebrating a Legacy of Service: GrantWorks’ Founder Bruce J. Spitzengel Honored with Congressional Recognition
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) June 29, 2023 -- GrantWorks, Inc. founder and President Bruce J. Spitzengel was honored Wednesday, June 7, 2023, during the first session of the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C., with a congressional recognition by Representative Randy K. Weber of Texas' 14th District.
Rep. Weber proclaimed an official recognition of Spitzengel and his company GrantWorks, a recognized leader of state and federal grant administration and program management services, for “tremendous commitment to excellence and unselfish dedication in the work serving the needs of the families and local government.”
Spitzengel began his career in Texas City forty-eight years ago working as a city planner and later as the assistant planning director for Pasadena. In 1979, Spitzengel formed the company that would soon evolve into GrantWorks. Since its formation, the technical consulting firm has secured and managed over $8 billion in federal and state grant-funded projects, successfully serving over 600 deserving communities.
"The credit for this congressional recognition goes to GrantWorks' executives and team members for making this company great,” said Spitzengel. “Our employees' hard work and unwavering commitment to serving our communities have been the driving force behind our collective success."
When starting the company, Spitzengel’s initial focus was on the administration of Community Development Block Grants, or CDBG, under the Texas State Small Cities program, thereby providing grant assistance to local governments for infrastructure and comprehensive planning.
GrantWorks’ evolving mission and Spitzengel’s vision and dedication presented the opportunity for GrantWorks to extend its services and expertise nationwide. With eight primary offices throughout Texas, Florida, and New York, and 86 field locations, the company’s portfolio is vast and includes:
- 24 CDBG Disaster Recovery programs ongoing for over 125 cities and counties
- 28 ongoing Water/Wastewater programs totaling $92.3 million
- Certification as Department of Housing and Urban Development Technical Assistance Provider
- 2,000+ FEMA and HUD home elevation projects completed
- $900 million American Rescue Plan Act grant funds secured and managed for 180+ municipalities and counties
“GrantWorks is a purpose-driven company with a culture of service, helping our clients navigate the challenges of both state and federal programs,” said Spitzengel. “We have an amazing team of experts with unparalleled knowledge and expertise of grant rules and regulations who are committed to delivering sustainable, cost-effective solutions to help our communities thrive.”
Keeping true to GrantWorks’ culture of service, the company supports employees’ volunteer efforts by offering up to eight hours of paid volunteer time each year. GrantWorks also supports multiple volunteer efforts such as their recent sponsorship of the Galveston County Daily News Press Run and the Galveston Adopt-A-Beach program.
GrantWorks has also assisted thousands of households with over $10 million of medical debt relief and created a scholarship program in recognition of valued employee, the late Betty Collier, to assist government employees in their completion or recertification of the Texas Municipal Clerks Certification Program (TMCCP).
