Celebrities, Chefs and Shopping at Michigan International Women’s Show Opening Thurs., May 2 in Novi
NOVI, Mich. (PRWEB) April 23, 2019 -- Celebrity guests, top chefs, fashion shows and southeastern Michigan’s largest popup shopping event provide a perfect girls day out at the 24th annual Michigan International Women’s Show, Thurs., May 2 through Sun., May 5, Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.
“Bring your mom, sister, daughter or girlfriends and shop for the latest fashions, trendy jewelry, gourmet treats and beauty products or find something special for Mother’s Day,” said Beth Anderson, executive show manager of Southern Shows. “Enjoy the 75 presentations on three stages including culinary demonstrations, firefighter charity fashion shows and celebrity appearances.”
Tyson Beckford, former Ralph Lauren Polo model and host of Bravo’s reality series “Make Me a Supermodel,” will share his experiences of being named the greatest male model of all time by Vogue Magazine in 2014 and his involvement as an Ambassador for the non-profit Kick 4 Life, an organization that uses the power of soccer to engage vulnerable youth in holistic care and support in Lesotho, southern Africa. Ann Arbor Firefighters Charity fashion show will heat up the runway Friday and Saturday with firefighters modeling their dress blues and bunker gear. The firefighters will also host “Blinged-Out Bingo” each day, sponsored by Salena’s Accessory Showcase.
Aussie in the Kitchen Chef Paul Penney, chef instructors and culinary experts will prepare recipes and provide cooking and baking tips at the Challenge Butter Culinary Stage created by Stonebridge Kitchen & Bath with appliances provided by The Home Depot. Yachecia Holston, as seen on Fox’s reality cooking competition series “MasterChef,” will demonstrate her ‘sassy southern fusion’ cooking and share her experiences competitively cooking and as a chef for professional athletes and host of pop-up shops. Teen chef and baker Kamryn Chasnis, as seen on Fox’s reality cooking competition series “MasterChef Junior,” will also be demonstrating recipes. Vegan food blogger, Quiana “Que” Broden, will explain how vegans and meat-eaters can coexist by introduce more plant-based meals into everyday living. Challenge Butter will offer opportunities to win butter, their squishy cow and other prizes. Gourmet treat samples near the Stage include sweet tea by Milo’s Tea Company, cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes, edible cookie dough by Big Dipper Dough and chip, veggie, and dessert dips from Chadwick's Naturals.
Hair and makeup trends and cosmetic tips will be part of the makeovers offered by area beauty experts. Guardian Angel Animal Rescue will sponsor the “Pawject Runway-Fido Fashion Show” featuring canine couture, essentials and adoption information (Saturday and Sunday). Latest styles and looks will be showcased during fashion shows on the Main Fashion Stage.
The make-and-take workshops at the DIY Bar will include handcrafted wood and paint projects and chalking home décor items. Local artisans featuring crafts and one-of-a-kind items will be featured in the Made in Michigan Pavilion.
Cigna's Health Improvement Tour will conduct biometric screenings for women to learn their blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and body mass index (BMI) health numbers and health coaches will help people understand the information provided and explain how to take follow-up steps.
Authors including Tom Daniels and "Cookie" Marsh, authors of “Black & White Like You & Me, Parallel Lines Sometimes Intersect;” Andy Gutman, author of “Charlie the Caterpillar;” Steven C. Harms of Oxford and author of “Give Place to Wrath;” Tara Michener, author of five early reader to young adult children's books; Nichole Peters of Detroit and author of “Can You Eat Lipstick?” and Jessica Slating of Novi and author of “Shellica’s Mermaid Adventure” will be sharing stories and reading books.
“Be inspired, entertained and pampered with health tips, beauty makeovers and fashion shows,” said Anderson.
Other features include special gifts for the first 100 show attendees each day; Friday’s Girls Night Out with $5 admission after 5 p.m.; Saturday is Walgreens Day with gift card winners every hour and a free bag filled with beauty samples and coupons at their exhibit space; Saturday is also Teachers Day with $5 box office adult admission by showing a valid school identification card and special gift for the first 100 teachers or employees; Sunday’s Mother Daughter Day features a special gift for the first 100 attendees from Mackenzie’s Sugar House, complimentary braid bar and a mother daughter look-a-like and cupcake decorating contests; and more than 400 exhibitors displaying cosmetics, purses, shoes, gifts, décor items, food, arts and crafts, clothing, fashion and accessories.
