Central Florida Pain Relief Centers' Dr. Michael Creamer Presents at the 2018 AAPMR Annual Assembly in Orlando
ORLANDO, Fla. (PRWEB) November 14, 2018 -- Michael Creamer, DO, presented his Dedicated Poster at the AAPMR (American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) annual assembly in Orlando, Florida. The conference took place from October 25th - 28th at the Orange County Convention Center.
Medtronic representative Kristen Lambrecht helped to develop the study and create the poster, which was titled: "Efficacy of Intrathecal Baclofen Therapy Compared to Oral Medication on Pain and Quality of Life in Post-Stroke Spasticity: the SISTERS Study."
Poststroke spasticity (PSS) is a common cause of disability in stroke survivors. Without effective treatment, the excessive muscle tone can cause pain and stiffness, deformity and reduced range of movement.
Intrathecal baclofen (ITB) therapy is indicated for use in severe, chronic spasticity of cerebral or spinal origin, including generalised spastic hypertonia following stroke.
The 2018 Annual Assembly was focused on Success Through Innovation, where physiatrists learned about the latest innovations in practice, science and leadership to help advance physiatry's impact throughout health care. More than 350 posters were presented, featuring original research from peers at this large-scale gathering.
The event also featured:
- 95+ educational sessions across various clinical and practice areas
- Pre-conference courses in the areas of ultrasound, regenerative medicine, career diversification, and early-career physiatrists
