Annual event to be held in Duncan, the Heart of the Chisholm Trail on Oct 1
DUNCAN, Okla., Sep. 15, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, located in Duncan, OK, will host its annual Western Spirit Celebration on October 1, 2022, from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM. This is a fantastic opportunity to help the CTHC celebrate the great American West and the legacy of the Chisholm Trail.
Most activities will be outside including chuckwagon cooking, Best Jam, Jelly, Butter or Preserve competition, live longhorns, stock dog demonstrations by Roy Cox, historical interpretations by Wallace Moore, Red Dirt Pour, Loyalty Farm Petting Zoo, Comanche Nation Youth Dancers, additional live performances, and our kid art project area. Admission to the museum will be free. Guests can enjoy our amenities and meet with Jackson Reeder, a published author and Duncan High School class of 1970 graduate.
Loyalty Farm & Co. will be in attendance with a petting zoo, face painting, and they will have their merch and special treats for sale. Not only can attendees help celebrate, but they can also interact with special guests from Loyalty Farm & Co., a local veteran-owned business.
The CTHC is also looking for talented artists ages 1-10 for the coloring contest! Parents can pick up the color sheet from CTHC directly. All completed sheets must be returned to the museum by 4:00 PM on Sept 29. Competition categories are ages 1-4 and ages 5-10. Winners will be notified on Sept 30 and can pick up their prize on Oct 1 when the winners are announced live during the event.
Guests are welcome to come to this free event, which is open to all. The event will be a come-and-go, so guests can visit for a bit or stay for the whole event. Between 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, spreads from the Best Jam, Jelly, Butter, or Preserve competition will be served. Cobbler will be served 2:00-4:00 PM.
The mission of the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center is to celebrate and perpetuate the history, art, and culture of the Chisholm Trail, the American cowboy, and the American West. To fulfill that mission, they provide events like this to give guests a small glimpse into the lives of cowboys along the trail. For some guests, it may be their first time to see a genuine chuckwagon up close, or maybe they've never seen a stock dog demonstration. The CTHC wants to provide fun opportunities for the community and visitors to get together and enjoy unique experiences. They are always so thankful for everyone who comes to their events, and they want to make sure they put on fun events that people of all ages can enjoy.
