Citrus College International Student Center Kicks Off Third Year of International Student Application Process with Terra Dotta
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (PRWEB) September 10, 2019 -- Terra Dotta, the leader in higher education travel, study abroad and international program management solutions, today announced that Citrus College’s International Student Center is kicking off its 3rd year of international student application and management with Terra Dotta’s ISSS software.
With a population of more than 12,000 students and located in the foothills of Los Angeles, Citrus College had doubled its international student population from 300 to 600 international students annually. This growth demanded a move from a paper-based international registration and advising system to a technology-driven approach that could accommodate increased immigration processing and compliance requirements.
“Automating our international student services with Terra Dotta has made a big impact on our registration and advising success,” said Coe Lamoureux, MA, PDSO, International Student Supervisor at Citrus College. “The efficiency and speed that we can process applications, issue I-20s and communicate with potential students has helped increase our matriculation rate to nearly 100 percent.”
Citrus College selected Terra Dotta for its ability to communicate and transfer batch data with Citrus College’s student information system (Banner by Ellucian) and with the federal government’s SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System), as well as its ability to issue and accept I-20 documentation.
Moving away from paper-based records has also increased reporting capabilities and communication with students. Being able to more quickly track student class registrations has helped alert Citrus international advisors to students who are at greater risk of being out of status and, with proactive student outreach, has cut out of status incidents in half.
“International student registration is a critical function for today’s higher ed institutions and we are excited to see the positive impact that automating international services has had at Citrus College and other institutions nationwide,” said Brandon Lee, CEO of Terra Dotta.
With the deployment of Terra Dotta ISSS, Citrus College’s international students can log into the cloud-based portal to complete critical application and registration steps, from form completion to recommendation requests, in one central, paperless location. The college’s international advisers can also log on to offer services to its international community, including scheduling automatic email reminders to complete specific tasks and optional alert communications through text messaging to smartphones.
Terra Dotta has helped Citrus automate SEVIS processing in real time, which helps get offers and acceptance steps completed in a timely manner and mitigate the risk of data entry errors. This provides vital compliance protection for both the college and international students.
