Clear Law Institute Announces California Sexual Harassment Training to Help Employers Meet the Extended Training Deadline
California recently extended the sexual harassment training deadline by 1 year for companies with 5 or more employees.
ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- California recently extended the sexual harassment training deadline by 1 year for companies with 5 or more employees. Now businesses will have until January 1, 2021, to meet this compliance.
Clear Law Institute, an expert in providing online compliance training for hundreds of thousands of employees nationwide, has announced the availability of a sexual harassment training course to help employers in California meet new sexual harassment training requirements.
Initially, California AB 1825, signed into law September 30, 2018, required companies with 50 or more employees to provide sexual harassment training by January 1, 2020, and provide additional training every 2 years. The new law, SB 778, expands the training to include all businesses with 5 or more employees and extends the deadline by 1 year.
Under the new law, sexual harassment training in California must be provided within 6 months of hire for new employees; supervisors must be trained within 6 months of acquiring their position. Temporary employees, seasonal employees, and migrant agricultural workers must also receive the training.
The California law mandates that training must be 2 hours for supervisors and 1 hour for employees and may be completed online. The law specifies that training can be completed in shorter segments and does not have to be finished in one sitting as long as the time requirement is met.
