Collection of poems and lyrics celebrate the beauty of words and language
Jef Harris' 'First Poem of Words' gets a new marketing push
BEL AIR, Md., Jan. 11, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Published author and poet Jef Harris invites readers to a celebration of words and language as he launches a new press campaign for his 2012 anthology "First Poem of Words" (published by Trafford Publishing).
The book is a collection of poems and lyrics about global travels, relationships and experiences. Here, Harris reveals himself with vibrant literary invention as various subjects — life, love, war, faith, trials, successes — are told in free verse, haiku, couplets and other poetic styles. Each poem takes readers to where certain events occur, making them "travel without traveling." It is the author's hope that as they read or listen to these selected words, readers will the able to appreciate and understand the affectionate messages in his voice.
An excerpt from the poem "The Holes in the Rain" reads:
Listen and I'll tell you why I'm sitting here
Picking out the holes in a hard rain
I believed the war just wouldn't change my mind
I believed I really could stay sane.
One rainy night lightning flashed way out on the Gulf
A bomber left the shore above my head
Someone yelled up from the bottom of the tower
"We just heard that Harris was dead!"
