Today, Common App launched the 2022-2023 application season with more than 1,000 colleges and universities.
ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 2, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, Common App launched the 2022-2023 application season with more than 1,000 colleges and universities. Used by more than three million applicants, teachers, and counselors every year, the Common App platform streamlines the college application process, providing resources and guidance to make college more accessible for students around the world.
In addition to providing a single, online application and 24/7/365 support for all students applying to member colleges and universities, Common App connects applicants to a mobile app, financial aid and scholarship information, online portfolios, and a vast library of counselor resources available in English and Spanish.
"Common App started as an experiment in 1975 with 15 colleges, led by college admission officers and school counselors to streamline the admission process for students," said Jenny Rickard, President & CEO of Common App. "Nearly 50 years later, we are so excited to kick off the 2022-2023 application season with more than 1,000 colleges and universities for students to explore. Our goal remains the same: We want all students to feel supported by Common App -- regardless of where they are in their journey. We want to provide the tools and resources to help more students get to and through college."
"As a small, private faith-based school in NYC, our students value our community, diversity and a unique learning environment. We look forward to joining Common App and providing students with an easy way to launch into their educational journey," said Katherine Dell'Aiera, Associate Director of Central Admissions at Nyack College & Alliance Theological Seminary.
Students applying to college in 2022-2023 will also have access to nearly 70 new colleges and universities. More than 20 of the new members to Common App are Minority-serving Institutions (https://www..ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/edlite-minorityinst.html [MSIs __title__ null]). In 2021, Common App launched an initiative to increase member representation of Minority-serving Institutions. Under this program, MSI membership has grown significantly, with the highest number of MSIs joining between 2021-2022. As universities aim to increase on-campus diversity, Common App's MSI Program aims to help connect MSIs with well-qualified candidates who are historically underserved.
Core to Common App's mission is supporting those who support students. Today's launch also includes the expansion of Common App's integration platform, which enables third-party software developers to seamlessly integrate their products with Common App. Transeo, which helps schools transform their student readiness by tracking and reporting service, workplace learning and graduation plans, will be available for recommenders beginning in the 2022-2023 application season. Transeo joins our existing college counseling platforms supported through this integration service, including:
