Crush Challenge Returns for 9th Year on August 26 to the Napa Valley
Napa, CA (PRWEB) July 27, 2023 -- ZD Wines and the deLeuze Family Charitable Foundation are excited to announce that Crush Challenge, the ultimate food, wine, and cycling lifestyle event in Napa Valley, returns this year on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Proceeds of Crush Challenge are dedicated to finding a non-toxic cure for cancer at UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, as well as providing funding for the Teen Center at Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley. Last year, the event raised a record-breaking $182,500 for the charities, and over $635,000 (net) since inception.
The morning fun ride presented by UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center begins at 9:15 a.m. and will offer a choice of 17-, 25-, or 37-mile routes, starting at the Veterans Memorial Park in Yountville. For the non-cyclists, Crush Challenge also offers a winemaker-hosted barrel tasting at ZD Wines presented by the Clarke Family Foundation, as well as an all-inclusive Food & Wine Garden immediately following the ride at the North Yountville Park.
The Food & Wine Garden will feature signature tastes from partners ACTA Wine, Angèle, Baldacci Vineyards, Carneros Resort, Celadon, Chateau Montelena, Cliff Lede Vineyards, Cole’s Chop House, Cook St. Helena, Ghost Block Wines, Il Posto Trattoria, Kitchen Door, Kollar Chocolates, Mad Fritz Brewing, Mothers Tacos, Ristorante Allegria, Robert Craig Winery, Silver Oak, St. Supéry Estate, Truchard Vineyards, Twomey, and ZD Wines. Live music will be performed by Moonstruck SF.
The evening will conclude with a sold-out al fresco wine dinner, where the deLeuze family will present this year’s Norman deLeuze Power of Influence to Honoree Brad Buchanan. Buchanan was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma in February 2015, and underwent a stem cell transplant in 2016, which involved a lengthy recovery and temporary vision loss. In 2016, he also participated in a clinical trial for B-cell lymphoma caused by the Epstein-Barr virus, and is still in remission. In addition to being an Emeritus Professor of English at Sacramento State University, he facilitates recurring Writing As Healing workshops through the UC Davis Cancer Center and the Sacramento Society for the Blind.
Tickets for Crush Challenge are on sale now at http://www.crushchallenge.net. Tickets are $250 for the cycling ride, or $25 if you fundraise the rest, and include admission to the Food & Wine Garden. The barrel tasting is $200 and also includes admission to the Food & Wine Garden. The garden-only ticket is just $150.
