BIRMINGHAM, Ala., July 5, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dino Rizzo, the founder of Servolution and author of the book "Serve Your City," is excited for the upcoming Serve Day as churches around the country look to step up their efforts in giving back.
This year's Serve Day will be held on July 15. Serve Day provides churches all around the world with an opportunity to share the love of God and serve their local communities, all through practical acts of kindness.
While Serve Day is held one day each year, Dino Rizzo believes that it's important to serve others throughout the year. As the co-founder of Healing Place Church and the executive director of ARC (Association of Related Churches), he says that simple acts of selfless love can open hearts to Jesus, allowing people to make a difference.
Church communities who sign up to be a part of Serve Day will gain free access to the Serve Day Platform. The web-based tool allows churches to simplify, coordinate and promote activities around their own Serve Day.
It allows churches to access customizable branding, high-level reporting, in-app messaging, social media sharing, and more. This can all be accessed through the Serve Day app, which is available for download on both Apple and Android devices.
In addition to Serve Day, churches throughout the country are serving in impactful ways every day of the year.
The amazing team at Church of the Highlands is dedicated to everything from "grilling to drilling," serving communities at all 23 of its campuses in Alabama and Georgia on the first Saturday of every month. Rain or shine, Rizzo says the team is out there serving the community in the hopes of sharing their love of Jesus.
There are many ways that people can serve their local communities throughout the year, Rizzo explains. It doesn't have to be a huge fundraising drive to be impactful, either. Even simple acts of kindness can make a huge difference in someone's life.
Some examples of how churches have served include holding Easter Drive-Thrus and deliveries, where children who couldn't travel were given a surprise egg hunt in their own front yard. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, some church communities turned their focus on mail and package carriers, blessing them with gift cards, meals, and more to thank them for their continued service.
Dino Rizzo says individuals can serve in simple ways, too, by providing free gas cards to people in need, by helping to clean and beautify a local park or playground, by giving flowers to those suffering, and by simply smiling and saying hello to those who pass you by.
