Downtown Frederick Partnership's Alive @ Five 2020 season postponed due to COVID-19
Partnership has launched a GoFundMe page (bit.ly/aliveatfive2020) and will be hosting an event each week on Facebook
FREDERICK, Md., May 8, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- May is the time of year when Downtown Frederick should be buzzing with excitement – residents gearing up for a summer full of community events, shop owners throwing open their doors to bustling streets full of visitors and urban parks filled with people enjoying the beautiful weather. While we can still count on the beautiful weather, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of our communities in ways that we could never have imagined just a few short months ago.
Downtown Frederick Partnership encourages Frederick to continue staying at home and to keep following all social distancing guidelines for as long as they are in effect. It takes each of us doing our part to reduce the spread of the coronavirus and help keep our community healthy.
With this in mind, the Partnership announces the following change to its summer events season:
Alive @ Five is postponed until further notice. The Partnership will not launch its weekly outdoor happy hour series until all stay-at-home orders have been lifted, it is once again deemed safe to allow public gatherings and any necessary event changes can be implemented to ensure the safety of event attendees, volunteers, staff and band members. Visit downtownfrederick.org/aliveatfive for forthcoming event changes and announcements.
Alive @ Five is presented by DARCARS Toyota of Frederick and Downtown Frederick Partnership. Once launched, the event will take place every Thursday in Carroll Creek Amphitheater, featuring live music, local beer, wine and food from 5-8PM. The event series is 21+ only and has a $5 admission.
Entering its seventeenth season, Alive @ Five is more than a community happy hour. It is a summer-long fundraiser for Downtown Frederick Partnership – a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing, promoting and preserving the vitality and livability of Downtown Frederick, a national Main Street community.
Every drink token purchased, and every gate fee paid, is directly reinvested into the Downtown Frederick community. The operating funds raised through this event series allows the Partnership to implement ongoing projects throughout the year – such as providing professional development opportunities and support to downtown retailers, restaurants and small businesses, developing public art and placemaking projects to enhance the overall atmosphere and environment of Downtown Frederick, and promoting Downtown Frederick as a great place to live, work, stay and play.
In lieu of its outdoor happy hour series for May, the Partnership has launched a GoFundMe page (bit.ly/aliveatfive2020) and will be hosting an event each week on Facebook. Visitors to the Facebook event will be able to learn about the bands booked for the 2020 season and will be invited to grab their favorite carryout from a downtown restaurant to enjoy Alive @ Five at home.
