Drs. Kaye Shelton and Tanya Joosten Elected to OLC Board of Directors
NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (PRWEB) January 22, 2019 -- The Online Learning Consortium (OLC), the leading professional organization devoted to advancing the quality of digital learning worldwide, today announced Kaye Shelton, Ph.D., and Tanya Joosten, Ph.D., have been elected as new members of the OLC Board of Directors.

New Board Members Bring Meaningful Knowledge & Experience
Dr. Shelton, who is a Professor of Educational Leadership in the Center for Doctoral Studies in the College of Education at Lamar University, has been a long-time contributor to OLC’s quality mission. She earned an OLC Effective Practice award for her research on the OLC Quality Scorecard for the Administration of Online Education Programs, and has been deeply involved in the national and international use of the OLC Quality Scorecard for the Administration of Online Programs as it has been adopted by institutions in Latin America. She is also an OLC Quality Scorecard program evaluator and teaches workshops regarding its implementation. Her prior experience includes serving as Dean of Online Education for Dallas Baptist University. She is certified as an online instructor, teaching online since 1999, and also an online education consultant.
Like Dr. Shelton, Dr. Joosten has been actively involved with OLC during her career in digital learning. She currently serves as Senior Scientist, Director of Digital Learning Research and Development, and co-PI and co-Director of the National Research Center for Distance Education and Technological Advancements (DETA) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is nationally recognized in her work in blended and online learning as an OLC Fellow and works to guide strategic digital learning efforts on campus, across the UW System, and nationally. Previously, Dr. Joosten worked as the Director of the Learning Technology Center leading faculty development and engagement initiatives, pedagogical and technological innovation projects, core learning technology oversight, and blended and online program development.
2019 OLC Priorities
With the addition of Drs. Shelton and Joosten, the 17-member OLC Board of Directors will provide guidance on a number of OLC’s priorities in 2019, including a year-long focus on diversity, equity and inclusion with partner MERLOT, continuing initiatives related to accessibility with partner WCET, ongoing focus on policy and transformation required to support the modern learner, and OLC’s quality-first mission in delivering essential and trusted resources to the digital education community.
