DuPont Electronics & Imaging’s Bryan Barton & Elaine Masser Honored Among Delaware’s Top Young Professionals
NEWARK, Del. (PRWEB) September 27, 2018 -- DuPont Electronics & Imaging, a DowDuPont Specialty Products Division business, is proud to announce that two of its research scientists, Bryan Barton and Elaine Masser, have been named to the Delaware Business Times DBT40 list. Each year, Delaware Business Times organizes the DBT40 awards, a carefully curated group of 40 of Delaware’s brightest and most accomplished early career professionals, all under the age of 40.
Bryan Barton, Ph.D., is research group leader at DuPont Electronics & Imaging’s Newark site, where he is leading a team in developing new materials for the chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) market. Early in his career, Barton has made a name for himself leading a technical project for engineered carbon fibers, is an inventor on 22 patent applications for carbon fibers and high-performance electronic materials, and is the co-author on 19 external papers. He also currently participates on the DuPont Electronics & Imaging innovation team, in which experts from across the electronics portfolio routinely meet to identify capabilities and collaboration partners for new business opportunities.
“Bryan is an accomplished scientist, having demonstrated the ability to innovate across several disparate technical fields, and holds leadership qualities that exceed his years of experience,” said Marty DeGroot, R&D Director for CMP Technologies, DuPont Electronics & Imaging. “He strives to push the limits of our technology’s performance capabilities to surprise our customers and the industry with what’s possible, setting a strong vision for our R&D programs.”
Elaine Masser, Ph. D., is a polymer scientist and senior development engineer, also located at DuPont Electronics & Imaging’s Newark site. This year alone, Masser made a valued impact for the CMP business by defining a strategy to carefully analyze incoming new raw materials to manage quality control for product development. Another of her recent accomplishments was the design of a new work process for sending customized product samples, a controlled and scalable mechanism for serving CMP customers around the world. Masser also serves as the co-chair for the DowDuPont analytical engagement team, collaborating to examine analytical capabilities to unlock new resources for teams across the Specialty Products Division.
“Elaine routinely applies her skills and technical knowledge to help her team make better products, whether it is through continuous improvements or new product development,” said Marty DeGroot. “She is constantly thinking about how things can be done not only better and more efficiently, but in a controlled and consistent manner, which is a true asset for our complex CMP business.”
In addition to their professional and leadership contributions, Barton and Masser were selected for their impact on company culture and their engagement in the local community.
Barton’s innovation mindset has led him to serve as the coordinator for the Delaware state You Be the Chemist Challenge®. This annual event brings 50-60 middle school students from across Delaware together for a quiz-bowl style chemistry competition and identifies Delaware’s finalist who will advance to the Chemical Education Foundation’s national competition.
Masser rallies and organizes her colleagues to support local schools and career fairs as the co-chair of the Newark site’s STEM Ambassadors network, a team of 35 people who facilitate activities to inspire students to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields. Masser was one of the founders of this group at the Newark site, where she also helped start up a chapter of the Asian Diversity Network, an employee resource group that raises awareness about Asian cultures and helps develop professional skills and networks.
Barton and Masser will be profiled in the upcoming Oct. 2 issue of the Delaware Business Times, alongside the full DBT40 class of 2018. All 40 award recipients also will be recognized during an Oct. 23 awards ceremony at the Baby Grand in Wilmington.
“Delaware Business Times strives to recognize the promising young talent in our state,” said Rob Martinelli, CEO & Publisher, Delaware Business Times. “Honorees are chosen based on their level of professional accomplishment, vision, community service and leadership. The DBT40 are role models who are striving to make a difference in our community.”
This year’s DBT40 honorees were selected by a group of judges that include local Delaware business leaders and previous DBT40 Award winners, and include representatives from a variety of fields such as finance, law, nonprofit, hospitality, education and technology.
