Empson USA Adds Dal Cero Estate and Tenuta Montecchiesi Wines to The Portfolio
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (PRWEB) July 13, 2023 -- Leading wine importer Empson USA announces its latest inclusion of Dal Cero and Tenuta Montecchiesi wines in the portfolio. The importer now represents all three estates of the Dal Cero Family: Dal Cero Estate in Valpolicella (Veneto), Corte Giacobbe in Soave (Veneto) and Tenuta Montecchiesi in Cortona (Tuscany). These recent additions are continuing an expansion project that saw in past months the acquisition of a stake in Jankara Winery and the inclusion of PoggioargentierA in the importer’s portfolio.
The winemaking tradition of the Dal Cero Family was started by Augusto Dal Cero in Valpolicella, Veneto, in 1934, with a vision guided by quality, sustainability and respect for the local values. The vineyard is located on a natural terrace made of limestone and volcanic soils, which add a distinguished mineral kick to the wines. Flagship labels of the estate are Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, Valpolicella DOC and Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso DOC.
After the passing of Augusto, the two sons Dario and Giuseppe took over the Valpolicella estate. However in 1980, enchanted by the Tuscan enological tradition, they decided to purchase a second estate in Cortona, Tenuta Montecchiesi.
Located near Lake Trasimeno at 853-1,148 feet above sea level, the 272-acre vineyard offers ideal growing conditions also for grape varieties other than Sangiovese. Defined by a moderate Mediterranean climate mitigated by the lake’s presence, the vineyard experiences hot summer days and mild winters, with high diurnal range and constant breezes that further enhance the wines’ profile. Dario and Giuseppe ambitiously identified in Syrah the grape variety with the highest quality potential, but both Vermentino and Chardonnay have proven to also thrive in these conditions as well, as shown in ‘Miralý’ Rosé Toscana IGT and Vermentino Chardonnay Toscana IGT.
Today, the Family wineries are run by the third generation, with Francesca, as the Marketing and Export Manager; Nico, Domestic Sales and Vineyard Manager; and Davide, Enologist and Cellar Manager.
