Enter to ‘Build It! with Jory & John’ in New Woodcraft Sweepstakes
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (PRWEB) February 27, 2019 -- Woodcraft invites woodworkers to enter the “Build It! with Jory & John Sweepstakes” for a chance to win furniture building lessons taught by West Coast furnituremaker Jory Brigham and East Coast builder John Malecki.
Working in partnership with Jory Brigham Design and SawStop, Woodcraft will award a Grand Prize package valued at $10,000. The winner will receive a three-day training class for themselves and a companion at Brigham Design Workshop and Training Center in Paso Robles, California, the custom wood and metal bench made during the class, and a SawStop Professional Saw valued up to $3,149. The Grand Prize also includes a flight to and from San Luis Obispo, California, and four nights on-site lodging for the winner and guest. Designer Jason Radcliffe from 44 STEEL in Cleveland will be assisting with the welding portion of the class. The Grand Prize winner, to be announced in May, will take part in a group class in October.

A Wealth of Knowledge
The Grand Prize winner will get hands-on instruction on a variety of woodworking skills from Brigham and Malecki. Brigham grew up around woodworkers and craftsmen, so he discovered his creative voice at an early age. With a modern take on nostalgia, he designs his pieces with mid-century flair and the idea that furniture should last. “I love to hear people say that my pieces remind them of their grandparents’ furniture. That was back in the day when people bought furniture with an intent to hand it down to their children. Becoming a furnituremaker almost happened by accident for Malecki. The former NFL player, who had two stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers, recalled, “I came home from a game to find that a roommate of mine sat on our coffee table and it broke, so we needed a new one.” His generation didn’t have the benefit of high school shop classes so he likes being part of “a DIY movement that is starting to grow and evolve beyond the traditional.” With influences from the Pittsburgh area, Malecki aims for a reclaimed, industrial look in his work. Brigham and Radcliffe met on the set of Spike TV’s 2015 reality show “Framework,” where they both competed against 11 other furniture designers for the chance to win cash, tools and the opportunity to launch their furniture nationally. Radcliffe was one of the three finalists on the show, which ultimately chose Brigham as the winner.
