Filmmaker returns to Hampton Roads for Premiere of "Thanksgiving With The Carters" Sequel
Sequel to "Thanksgiving With The Carters" opens with Red Carpet Premiere in Norfolk
NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 3, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "Thanksgiving With The Carters", the widely celebrated feature film by Maverick Entertainment in association with Imani Films celebrates the release of the sequel "Thanksgiving With The Carters 2; Second Helping" with a red carpet event, taking place this Thursday, Nov 4th at 7:30pm, at the Naro Expanded Cinema, 1507 Colley Avenue, Norfolk.
The film marks the third installment in the "Carters" cinematic saga about a family with rich traditions that always finds itself in unusual predicaments. The family's most important tradition is the "Thanksgiving Surprise", where each year family members try to present a surprise that inspires the family members and brings them closer. The tradition began when, one Thanksgiving morning, "Great Grandpa" was released from prison after a wrongful conviction and surprised the family with his return home. In "Thanksgiving with the Carters 2", this tradition is taken to a new level, when the family has a series of mishaps that land them in the middle of nowhere and they come face to face with the forces of nature and a stream of hilarious unusual characters.
In addition to comedy, the producers of "Thanksgiving With The Carters 2" intend to use this film to inspire audiences to learn about Native American culture and to be sensitive to the history and suffering of the Native Tribes, particularly during the Thanksgiving Holiday. "We are striving to create awareness and empathy along with laughter" said Bryan G Thompson, director of the feature. "In this story, a Native American family is the key to saving the Carter's Thanksgiving." Thompson began Imani Films in 2008 in Newport News and credits the film community of Hampton Roads for his success. The film features actors from the Apache tribe but never specifically mentions the tribe out of the respect for the diversity of tribal traditions. The red carpet premiere event at the Naro Expanded Cinema will feature a photocall with on-camera interviews conducted by Shanadiah Nicole, actress and Virginia Production Alliance Hampton Roads District Chair.
"Thanksgiving With The Carters 2; Second Helping" will be released by Maverick Entertainment on multiple platforms beginning later this month, including Tubi TV, Amazon Prime, Hoopla, IMDb TV, Maverick Black Cinema, Redbox, Pluto TV, Vudu, Xumo, and more.
