Fine Cooking Magazine Appoints Heide Lang Editor-in-Chief and Creative Director
Former Journalist and Current Founder of the Fig Cooking School, Recently Recognized as One Of The Top 10 Cooking Schools in New England, Will Lead Brand Experience Across All Platforms
NEWTOWN, Conn., Sept. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Taunton Inc. announces personnel changes today designed to elevate the Fine Cooking brand and position the platform for increased success with the company's content engagement strategy.
The company has appointed Heide Lang to the position of Editor-in-Chief & Creative Director for Fine Cooking. A former journalist, Heide founded the Fig Cooking School in Milford, CT in 2009, where she has developed recipes and taught hands-on classes for the past decade. Fig was just recognized as one of the top 10 Cooking Schools in New England by Yankee magazine. She is a frequent guest on local television, doing live cooking demos for WTNH (CT Style, Good Morning Connecticut), WFSB (Better Connecticut), and Fox 61 Hartford (Morning News). She has her B.A. from Barnard College, a Masters in Journalism from Columbia University School of Journalism, and a Culinary Techniques Certificate from The French Culinary Institute. Earlier in her career, Heide was associate editor for Advance Magazine Company, a group of publications serving health professionals. She also worked as a reporter for the Bucks County Courier Times and was an associate producer at WABC News in New York.
"We are thrilled to welcome Heide to the Taunton family of iconic brands," said SVP Group Publisher, Renee Jordan. "Heide will direct the brand product experience and content across all platforms, with all Fine Cooking editorial, the Test Kitchen and digital content teams reporting to her. I am confident Heide and her team will bring a fresh and energetic approach to help us accomplish our strategic business goals."
"I opened The Fig Cooking School to bring people together over amazing food. And even though I trained at the French Culinary Institute in New York, I have learned the most from cooking over 30 years in my own kitchen," said Lang. "As an investigative journalist, I loved the challenge of taking a complex story and making it clear for the reader. As a chef and instructor, I do the same thing by taking intimidating ingredients and concepts and bringing clarity to home cooks as we create the final product together. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to combine all my passions and skills as the new editor-in-chief at Fine Cooking. I look forward to being able to share my innovative experience, menus and time-tested techniques to Fine Cooking, helping to shape how we cook and experience food together."
