Fine Gardening Appoints New Executive Editor
Fine Gardening appoints Danielle Sherry executive editor and creates a new editorial role--editor at large--to serve the booming interest in gardening.
NEWTOWN, Conn., Sept. 17, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Taunton Press announced today that Danielle Sherry is taking over the editorial leadership of the Fine Gardening franchise, as executive editor. Former editor Steve Aiken will be stepping into the newly created role of editor at large, where he will continue to inspire the Fine Gardening audience with his knowledge, wit, and honesty about his experiences in his own garden.
Danielle has been with the company since 2007, beginning as assistant editor for Fine Gardening. She is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and has worked throughout the gardening world for more than 25 years, running nurseries, garden centers, and even a few farms. She has lectured extensively throughout the United States, and as an Accredited Nursery Professional, she enjoys sharing her horticultural successes and failures with anyone who loves plants as much as she does. In her new role as executive editor, Danielle will build on the momentum of Fine Gardening's new membership experience while continuing to provide the franchise's passionate gardeners with design inspiration and technical education in a fun, accessible way. "I'm a proud, self-proclaimed plant nerd and have been lucky enough to work for a magazine that feeds that passion every day for 13 years," says Danielle. She is adept at finding creative ways to connect readers and members with a broad array of gardening experts in print, online, and via the Let's Argue About Plants podcast. Steve Aitken also begins a new phase in his career at Fine Gardening. He began at The Taunton Press in 2001 and climbed the editorial ranks over time, eventually being named editor in 2009. Steve is a passionate gardener and top-notch editor and wordsmith. He has been a featured speaker at several national gardening events over the years, including the Northwest Flower Show and the Boston Flower and Garden Show. His regular column in the magazine is a delight for all who struggle daily to achieve perfection in their efforts.
