Friends of the California State Fair commitment to supporting education endures with 28th year of scholarship program
Up to $50,000 in awards is up for grabs for California students pursuing post-secondary education
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov. 18, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship Program for the 2022-23 academic year is now open and accepting applications until March 1, 2022.
This program offers $1,000 to $2,500 scholarships to help twenty-five well-rounded and high achieving college students and graduating high school seniors from across the Golden State pursue post-secondary education in a variety of academic disciplines.
Scholarships are available in 12 categories, including academic achievement, agriculture, art, business, culinary/hospitality management/event planning, trade school, and viticulture/enology. Top scholarship winners in select categories may be invited to compete for the $5,000 Ironstone Concours Foundation/Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship.
Applicants apply for one scholarship category of their choice and are evaluated based on academics, community service, recommendations and personal commitment to continuing their education. Through a personal essay, applicants must also address their involvement in school, community and volunteer activities as well as share the inspiration behind their chosen career path.
After back-to-back years of cancellation due to the pandemic, the State Fair and Food Festival and California State Fair Gala - which help fund the scholarship program through sponsorship and ticket sales – will return in July 2022. The Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship Program is a collaborative effort between the Friends of the California State Fair, the California Agricultural Advisory Council and the State Fair Gala Committee.
