Game Plan for Life Hosts First Ever Gibbs Cycles Charlotte
On September 24, 2018, Game Plan for Life, a nonprofit men's organization founded by Joe Gibbs, will host its inaugural Gibbs Cycles Charlotte event.
CONCORD, N.C., Aug. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On September 24, 2018, Game Plan for Life, a nonprofit men's organization founded by Joe Gibbs, will host its inaugural Gibbs Cycles Charlotte event. The race will begin at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and continue through the beautiful roads of the Mecklenburg, Iredell, and Cabarrus counties. Riders at this NASCAR-themed event will cycle alongside sports celebrities such as Daniel Suarez, Kyle Peters, George Hincapie and more.
When asked about the event, Renaldo Wynn, Director of Game Plan for Life, said, "I am so excited about doing the Gibbs Cycles Charlotte event where cycling and Nascar will meet head to head. Cyclists will have the awesome experience of riding around the Roval at the Charlotte Motor Speedway while riding with Nascar celebrity drivers, pit crew and pro cyclists."
All proceeds raised for this event will go to the North Carolina Field Minister Program, a ministry run by Game Plan for Life and the College at Southeastern. This ministry provides education to inmates serving 15-year to life sentences. After 4 years of successful completion of the program, inmates receive a fully paid, four-year Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministry with a secondary emphasis on counseling.
Cyclists can choose from three different routes: The Green Flag Route will visit four major NASCAR team headquarters along the route: Hendrick Motor Sports, Joe Gibbs Racing, Kyle Busch Motorsports, and Stewart Haas Racing, the Red Flag Route will ride past Hendrick Motor Sports and stop at Joe Gibbs Racing headquarters before making their way back to Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the Yellow Flag Route will ride 7 laps around the track of Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Pre-registered riders will receive a t-shirt and water/food along the route. At the finish, riders will receive barbeque food and drink sponsored by the Smoke Pit Restaurant.
