Gilbane Building Company Selected for New Mixed-use Redevelopment in Austin
AUSTIN, Texas (PRWEB) August 14, 2019 -- Gilbane Building Company has been selected by Turnbridge Equities to provide construction management at-risk services for their new mixed-use redevelopment on South Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas.
1221 South Congress Avenue is a four-story 102,745 SF mixed-use building which will consist of three floors of office space and street-level retail and restaurant space. The building is situated along Austin’s famous South Congress Avenue and is part of the ongoing redevelopment of the area. The building features architectural designs by Lake Flato Architects and Studio 8 Architecture.
The Gilbane team will also be tasked with the relocation of a 32” diameter heritage live oak tree from within the building footprint in order to preserve old growth trees within the downtown Austin area.
“Our team is excited to continue work within the Austin area and to be part of this redevelopment project” says Scott Orr, senior vice president, Gilbane Building Company.
“The 1221 South Congress site is a unique opportunity to upgrade and partially redevelop a late 90’s multifamily property in the heart of South Congress. The property’s amenities and clubhouse have been occupying all of the South Congress frontage creating an inactive, dormant stretch along the otherwise vibrant street. Activating the South Congress frontage was especially important to our plan so that it may complement the other great offerings the neighborhood already has” says Andrew Joblon, managing principal and founder, Turnbridge Equities.
Construction began in June of 2019 and is expected to complete in late 2020.
