Goreham vs Gore Goes Viral – Opening up the Climate Change Science Debate says Friends of Science
CALGARY, Alberta (PRWEB) January 10, 2019 -- Calling it “Goreham vs. Gore Goes Viral,” Friends of Science Society are celebrating the fact that their 2017 “Climate Dogma Exposed” event video on YouTube, starring author Steve Goreham, has suddenly taken off, with over 340,000 views. Best of all, Friends of Science says the video, formally titled “Climate Science and the Myths of Renewable Energy,” has sparked open public debate on climate change science and renewable energy performance, challenging claims promoted by Al Gore.
The debate surfaced as a former Google employee, Guillame Chaslot, tweeted on Dec. 21, 2018 that “…48 hours ago I noticed that an old climate skeptic video started to get massively recommended by YouTube’s algo out of the blue. I sent it to @ClimateFdbk that dispatched it to 4 top scientists for fact-check. The reviews are in, and they’re gold.”
Friends of Science Society says it is fantastic that top scientists are finally debating dissenting climate change perspectives in the public domain, but that 4 scientists barely begin to address the interdisciplinary scope of climate science. They have their own team of top scientists who are contributing to a comprehensive rebuttal that will broaden the public’s understanding of the complexities of climate science.
The main take-away points from Steve Goreham's video are that global temperatures over the last 30 years have warmed much less than simulated by climate models, climate change is dominated by natural factors, and renewable energy dramatically increases electricity prices.
According to Friends of Science, half the problem is that the public think the science is settled, when it clearly is not. Claims of a ‘consensus’ on climate change are typically misinterpreted. Several of the most popularly cited consensus surveys are deconstructed in the 2014 report “97% Consensus? NO! Global Warming Math Myths and Social Proofs.”
One example of public confusion about ocean warming and arctic sea ice variability relates to geothermal activity, a factor rarely mentioned in media commentary on global warming. Prof. Wyss Yim provides insights in two papers posted on the Friends of Science blog.
Friends of Science says faulty premises underlie much of the UN climate panel reports like the recent IPCC SR15, critiqued in the Friends’ October 2018 report “Faulty Premises=Poor Public Policy on Climate.”
Al Gore’s Climate Reality claims about renewables are also not supported by the evidence, says Friends of Science Society, referring to their report “In the Dark on Renewables” which also debunked Deloitte Insights’ claims.
Friends of Science Society says the public need to be informed and not fall victim to the platitudes and moralizing employed in climate dogma coercion on schemes like the US “Green New Deal” or Canada’s “Climate Leadership” fiasco. Open, civil debate and full cost-benefit accounting are necessary for good public policy. The sun is the main direct and indirect driver of climate change, consequently carbon taxes do nothing but make people poor.
