Grace Village Renovation Event Brings Hope To Women and Children Looking for a Safe Haven
SAN JOSE, CA (PRWEB) June 23, 2023 -- The 3rd annual CityTeam Love Your Neighborhood Day brings together staff and volunteers to show love in action
CityTeam, a non-profit organization serving the low-income and homeless population throughout the Bay Area, will host a special annual Love Your Neighborhoo d Day (LYND) service event at Grace Village, its multi-unit housing complex in San Jose on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 from 9 am to 2 pm. Grace Village houses women and children facing domestic abuse and homelessness.
This year’s event is in support of a 50-unit renovation to increase safety and comfort for the incoming families seeking refuge at Grace Village. The Grace Village campus is an expansion of CityTeam that provides immediate transitional housing and restorative services to women experiencing homelessness, addiction, abuse, and more. 15 units have been fully renovated and 19 are actively in the process of renovation.
Food will be sponsored by Chick-fil-A locations on Blossom Hill and Almaden, Monterey and Tully, Silver Creek Valley. Food will be served by way of the CityTeam’s Hope on Wheels food truck. Volunteers from Westgate Church, Garden City Church, The River Church, Echo Church will be among those assisting with demolition and renovation efforts.
CityTeam will also cast a vision for The Grace Village Community Center, a holistic care center adding significant on-site resources to this supportive housing community. These resources will include: essential childcare, medical care, mental health care, afterschool programs, and housing/career assistance. The current units lack necessary onsite resources and indoor space to meet the needs of the Bay Area community.
“Grace Village provides more than immediate shelter and food,” says Melody Alvarado, CityTeam’s Director of Women’s Programs in San Jose. “Grace Village provides community, healing, and tools for lasting success. Many of our guests come to us looking for a way to break a cycle and we want to provide them with the critical resources they need to move forward with their lives with financial and emotional stability. The unit renovations are critical for a safe and dignifying experience, and the new Grace Village Community Center will allow us to provide holistic care to women and children right outside their doors.”
