LOS ANGELES, March 22, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- It's no secret that gas prices are soaring nationwide and show no signs of slowing down, especially in large cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco. The astronomical prices are certain to push consumers into the arms of EVs, a fantastic alternative to traditional gas-guzzling vehicles. But unless consumers also take the proper measures with their homes, the savings from switching to an electric car could easily be offset by a soaring home electric bill or unreliable electricity provided by the utility companies.

Last year, the nation witnessed extreme outages across Texas leaving millions (about 4.5 million homes to be exact) without power. Other states like California also experience widespread outages. In fact, California has had outages yearly for the past four years due to shaky, unreliable power from utility companies. Now what happens when those people who decided to buy an electric vehicle to offset the drastic increase in gasoline prices are no longer able to power their cars? In the highly likely scenario that utility companies either decide to periodically shut off power or are unable to provide power due to weather conditions, homeowners could be stranded with no means of leaving the house until their homes regain power to charge their vehicles.

So what is the solution? Solar energy.

Solar energy is currently the only reliable source of renewable energy that is easily made into individual systems for homes and businesses. The key benefit here is that owning a solar energy system allows homeowners to have batteries to store power and rely on only the sun for their energy needs should the grid go down. And with technology so rapidly progressing, solar is becoming even more reliable and cheaper everyday.

Managing Director of Green Home Systems, Robbie Hebert, shares his thoughts on rising gas prices and why he believes GHS can combat them.

Hebert states, "The drastic rise in gas prices will without a doubt mean a move to EV cars on a much faster scale. The facts have shown that 50% of all new cars sold in the U.S. within the next 3 years would be EVs. We now believe we're looking at that timeline shrinking to 1.5-2 years given the current circumstances.

What we'll see is that with people switching to EVs and having to plug in their car to their home at night, there will be a direct increase in energy demands and consumption. Unfortunately for many homeowners, most utility companies have poor infrastructure and can't handle this demand.

In turn, we will see two things happen.

The utility companies will need complete infrastructure overhauls which the consumers will end up paying for, and the utility companies will rake in the dough.

If the latter is impossible, there will be frequent rolling blackouts. If the utility companies don't have the time or the money to get ahead of this problem now that the timeline has been cut in half they will simply exercise their right to turn off the grid and leave their customers helpless without power."

Hebert went on to explain how Green Home Systems can help during this difficult time sharing, "GHS always knew this day was coming so we have been selling homeowners battery ready solar systems for years even if they weren't ready to buy the actual battery yet simply because we knew there would eventually be a higher energy need that only adding a battery (or two) could handle. But what are the details of the batteries GHS sells?

Hebert explains, "We sell the SolarEdge inverter system with the Energy Hub battery ready inverter which also comes with the backup interface that is essentially the smart control panel for the system. This system is compatible with the LG Chem battery which is undeniably the best battery in the industry.

Homeowners have always had the option of going with the regular SE inverter, the HD Wave, and it does a fantastic job of converting the sun (DC) to AC (AC being what the grid stores and uses to power household appliances). However, if an HO had installed a system in the past with the HD Wave and they decide to get a battery now, then they would have to purchase the EH and completely change the inverter which costs approx $4k.

At GHS, we made the decision to design about 95% of the systems we've sold over the last few years with the EH to save the HOs from having to switch inverters once the inevitable comes and they choose to purchase a battery.

Additionally, we really thought ahead when partnering with SE as they also have their own line of EV chargers which allow the battery to charge EVs at night so that there is no energy pulled from what is directly powering the home."

The only question is how much will homeowners allow themselves to be controlled by the overpriced and unreliable utility companies before deciding to make the permanent switch to solar and take advantage of battery storage before demand and prices increase?
