Green Lawn Fertilizing / Green Pest Solutions Volunteer At Habitat for Humanity
COATESVILLE, Pa. (PRWEB) July 16, 2018 -- Green Lawn Fertilizing and Green Pest Solutions had a rewarding day volunteering for Habitat for Humanity of Chester County. In addition to the 13 team members giving up their time to help out, the company made a $2,500 donation to the worthy charity.
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization whose mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. They offer affordable housing to low-income families at cost. ”Many people think Habitat for Humanity just gives away homes to needy families but what we really do is provide an affordable home to those who are deserving of it and willing to work for it. We require 200 hours of sweat equity for all of our new homeowners.” said Jack Managhan, the Forman for our job site.
We arrived at our assigned job site in Coatesville at 8:15 AM. The area that we were in was inhabited by gangs and all sorts of violence not too long ago. However, now thanks in large part to Habitat for Humanity, we were working in an area that we all felt safe in. The road had dozens of new homes already built by Habitat for Humanity and it was super quiet with most of the residents in the neighborhood presumably at work. We were assigned to two homes on the block which already had foundations and a lot of the guts of the home built. Each of them were scheduled to be completed by the end of July.
Our task was paint each of these two homes. Our team of 13 members split in two to work on each of the homes. One home was a little farther along than the other one. That group focused on painting trim, the sides of staircases, doors, shelves and other more detailed work. The team working on the other house helped bring in cabinets and painted the walls and ceilings using rollers.
We all worked hard through the morning. When we took a break for lunch we met up with a couple of the other volunteers and Liz Price, the Volunteer Organizer who helped set up our day at Habitat for Humanity. Liz could not have been more appreciative of all of us who came out that day. Our VP Sales, Alex Wolfington spoke for all of us when he responded in kind to Liz, “We all could not be more appreciative of Habitat for Humanity for providing us this opportunity to help those in need. We love what this organization stands for and could not be happier to donate our time to its cause.”
Green Lawn Fertilizing / Green Pest Solutions has made a point to give back to its community in 2018. In addition to its work with Habitat for Humanity, this July Green Lawn Fertilizing / Green Pest Solutions will send 10 of its members to Arlington National Cemetery for its Annual Renewal and Remembrance Day for the eleventh consecutive year. In the fall, the company will host a blood drive and volunteer at a local food bank. In the winter the company will participate once again in Toys for Tots.
Habitat for Humanity has been able to provide hundreds of thousands of homes worldwide to families in need. They are able to accomplish what they have due in very large part to the volunteers and people and companies who have made donations to their cause.
