Greenberg Traurig Attorneys to Speak at the IBA Annual Conference Seoul 2019

SEOUL, South Korea (PRWEB) September 24, 2019 -- SEOUL – Sept. 23, 2019 – Four Greenberg Traurig, LLP attorneys will speak at what is often considered the central event of the international legal community’s calendar, the International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference to be held Sept. 23 - 27 in Seoul, South Korea, where the firm has an office∞.

The IBA’s Annual Conference presents an opportunity to exchange knowledge and create and renew a global network of colleagues and business contacts. The 2019 program will include more than 200 sessions, followed by the Rule of Law Symposium, according to the conference website.

Duffy assumed the role of chief executive officer at Greenberg Traurig in January 2016. Previously he served as a firm president as well as chair of the firm’s 600-member Global Litigation Practice from 2009 to 2013. A true “working CEO,” Duffy focuses his practice on trial and appellate work in the class action, employment, energy, commercial contract, and product liability areas, serving as national, regional, and local counsel in high-profile cases throughout the United States. Under his leadership, Greenberg Traurig received the important rankings, reflective of his and the firm’s commitment to a diverse and quality workplace. Duffy is involved with the leadership and direction of the firm’s diversity efforts, including the independently recognized Greenberg Traurig Women’s Initiative and its affinity groups, addressing the needs of minority and diverse attorneys throughout the firm. The firm’s work includes forging important relationships with key organizations. As one example of many, Duffy serves on the Out Leadership Global Advisory Board. He is based in the firm’s Denver office.

In addition to co-managing the Miami office, Ibarra is a member of the Corporate Practice. He is a member, and previously served as co-chair, of the firm’s Latin America Practice which has been recognized as a leading Latin American practice by several organizations and publications, including Chambers & Partners. Fluent in Spanish, he has spent his career advising clients doing business in the United States, Spain, and across Latin America. Admitted to practice in both New York and Florida, Ibarra has led several important cross-border M&A transactions, as well as joint ventures and infrastructure projects, including public-private partnerships.

Based in the firm’s Northern Virginia office, Lee is a member of the Tax Practice and focuses on international tax and estate planning for high-net-worth and global individuals and families. She represents clients on sophisticated matters, including structuring of inbound and outbound businesses and investments, wealth management structures, estate and succession planning (including domestic and foreign trusts), structuring of family offices, pre-immigration tax and expatriation planning, and United States tax compliance in the cross-border context. Lee also represents taxpayers in audits and controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and with foreign tax authorities under Mutual Agreement Procedures. She is fluent in Korean language.

Peña, a member of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice, is based in Miami and leads the firm’s foreign law clerk program. He has broad experience in the United States, Spain, and Latin America, representing strategic investors and private equity funds. Prior to the firm, Peña was in-house counsel at Banamex, and later, was acting general counsel for a joint venture between two Fortune 500 companies operating in 13 jurisdictions in Latin America. Peña, who is president of the Interamerican Chapter of the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, was recently recognized by the Latin American Corporate Counsel Association as one of Latin America’s leading business lawyers and is included in the Legal 500 Private Practice Powerlist 2019: Mexico Specialists.
