The summit is designed to provide critical information and tactics needed to strategically navigate rapidly advancing privacy risks and regulations.
The event's 2021 virtual format will offer live online and on-demand presentations April through June, focusing on regulatory and operational topics presenting the biggest tests for the global privacy community.
Black, a member of Greenberg Traurig's Data Privacy & Cybersecurity and Emerging Technology practices in the Miami and San Francisco offices, will speak on a panel titled, "Advancing Data-Driven Health Research and Innovation Responsibly," to be held on April 7 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. PDT. The session will cover how data is really used in research and development. In addition, panelists will provide their views on bridging the perceived gap between healthcare research and privacy, and how to apply those ideas to current challenges - such as innovating responses to COVID-19. The panel will also discuss types of research, what makes data use in drug development and MedTech different from other industries, effective anonymization/deidentification, lawful data use, and how to build public trust within the industry.
Joining Black on the panel are Patrice Ettinger, chief privacy officer of Pfizer; Lauren Foster Wu, senior counsel, regulatory, RMS Privacy Team lead, and U.S. privacy officer of Roche Molecular Systems; and Alea Garbagnati, compliance and privacy counsel and U.S. privacy officer of Roche Molecular Systems, Inc.
