Greenberg Traurig’s Irwin Altschuler Participates in D.C. Bar’s U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement Webinar
WASHINGTON (PRWEB) October 31, 2018 -- Irwin P. Altschuler, chair of the International Trade Practice at global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will participate in a Nov. 8 webinar discussion titled, “The U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement: What’s New and What’s Not in a Post-NAFTA North America?” The webinar is sponsored by the Inter-American Affairs Committee of the D.C. Bar International Law Community and co-sponsored by the Inter American Legal Affairs Committee, International Trade Committee, and International Finance Committee of the D.C. Bar International Law Community.
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has been one of the Trump Administration’s primary trade policy objectives. On September 30, 2018, the U.S., Mexico, and Canada announced that they had reached consensus on a new framework for trade in North America, now known as the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Altschuler, along with his fellow panelists, will discuss the similarities and differences between the USMCA and the NAFTA from the perspectives of U.S., Mexican, and Canadian practitioners. They will also discuss the wide-ranging implications that the USMCA, once implemented, could hold for businesses and consumers in the three countries.
For more than 30 years, Altschuler has built a practice that retains its original focus on trade remedies litigation and enforcement proceedings and has grown to include trade policy matters and, increasingly, business issues arising from accessing and defending international markets. Altschuler’s practice has a strong focus on Mexico. Over his distinguished career, he has represented some of Mexico's largest corporations and Mexican government entities, in international trade and other complex legal, policy, and business matters. His experience extends to representations in South America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia.
