Allen will lead a one-hour Practising Law Institute (PLI) briefing titled, “Does the Recent WTO Decision Spell Trouble for Trump’s Tariffs and Open the Door for Further Legal Challenges?" During the briefing, Allen will discuss the legal background of the Russia/Ukraine World Trade Organization case and the legal significance of the national security exception; the similarity between the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade “national security” exception and other multilateral trade agreements; the future impact of the recent WTO decision on pending cases involving the U.S.; and the potential for investor-state claims against the U.S. regarding tariffs.
