Greenberg Traurig to Receive 2018 Law Firm Pro Bono Mission Partner Award (Regional Leadership) from The Veterans Consortium
WASHINGTON (PRWEB) October 03, 2018 -- Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has been selected to receive the 2018 Law Firm Pro Bono Mission Partner Award (Regional Leadership) from The Veterans Consortium(TVC). An awards reception and fireside chat program, set for Oct. 3, 2018, at Union Station in Washington, D.C., will honor award recipients for their pro bono service “above and beyond the call of duty for our nation’s veterans and their families, caregivers, and survivors.”
TVC’s Pro Bono Program has been serving veterans and their families, caregivers, and survivors for more than 26 years, helping them win access to the care, benefits, and compensation they earned through military service. TVC has operated the federal Pro Bono Program for veterans on behalf of the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims since 1992. TVC maintains a trained National Volunteer Corps of over 2,500 highly skilled attorneys, paralegals, and related pro bono professionals providing legal services free of charge to veterans and their loved ones in the United States and abroad. Through its National Volunteer Corps and staff, TVC has handled more than 47,000 requests for legal assistance and placed nearly 6,000 federal cases with pro bono attorneys. TVC is a national 501c3 nonprofit serving the global U.S. veteran community.
Greenberg Traurig’s pro bono efforts on behalf of veterans and the organizations that serve them, have included participating in the Los Angeles County Bar Association Veterans Legal Clinic and the Houston Bar Association Veterans Legal Initiative; assisting veterans with Veterans Discharge Upgrade Appeals through TVC and the Veterans Legal Clinic - Legal Services Center of Harvard Law School; and providing corporate legal assistance to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, the resource and technical assistance center for a national network of community-based service providers and local, state, and federal agencies that provide emergency and supportive housing, food, health services, job training and placement assistance, legal aid, and case management support for hundreds of thousands of homeless veterans each year. Greenberg Traurig has also assisted the Army Historical Foundation with real estate matters pertaining to the building of the National Museum of the United States Army.
