Gulfside Hospice & Pasco Palliative Care Expanding to Become Gulfside Healthcare Services
TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) December 13, 2018 -- Leaders from Gulfside Hospice & Pasco Palliative Care announced plans to expand the company’s care options by becoming Gulfside Healthcare Services, continuing in its 30-year history of embracing a full continuum of non-profit care for the community.
Gulfside has provided hospice services since 1989, and non-hospice palliative services since 2009 to members of the Pasco County community. With the expansion, Gulfside Healthcare Services will now offer an option for skilled home health, further exhibiting its mission to provide a comprehensive circle of personalized care.
The option of skilled home health services will encourage patients and their loved ones to participate in the healing process side-by-side, in the comfort of their own home.
Gulfside’s skilled home health program will facilitate a safe, healthy and relaxed healing process following an injury, surgery or illness. Patients receive care and services by a team of skilled healthcare professionals such as Registered Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Wound Care Specialists and more. The company’s expert team understands patients’ medical histories and specific goals for recovery. Home-treatment plans, which are modified to patients’ personal needs, allow for optimal recovery time and maximum independence through rehabilitation and assistance with daily care.
Beginning in March, Gulfside Healthcare Services plans to offer skilled home health services in Pasco, Hernando, Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties, alongside its current hospice services in Pasco County and palliative services in Pasco and Hillsborough Counties. These services provide relief from symptoms and stress during serious illness and toward the end of a person’s life, while providing complete emotional and spiritual support. Gulfside’s approach is one that sees each person as a whole, rather than focusing on the illness objectively.
A recent study from the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) found “an extra minute relative to the average length of a patient’s home health visits reduces their [hospital] readmission likelihood by approximately 8%.” Spending less time in the hospital with a decreased risk of readmission makes skilled home health the more affordable, effective and comfortable treatment option.
“We are confident that Gulfside’s expansion accurately portrays our progression to a complete cycle of healthcare services for a diverse community. Patients now have a choice in the care they receive,” says Linda Ward, President and CEO of Gulfside Healthcare Services.
