Every year more than 22,000 tons of plastic waste enter the Earth’s oceans every year. Awake Watches is taking a stand as the world’s most sustainable watch; utilizing innovative processes and materials at every step to ensure the smallest possible environmental impact. Our watch will accompany them everywhere, and will testify to these shared values.”
Each piece of the Awake has been thoughtfully designed to create the highest quality watch in the most sustainable way possible; from recycled stainless steel for the timepiece itself, to recycled plastic which avoids the use of chemical dyes and even the vegetable tanned leather process takes great care to avoid the use of chemicals. Wearers can be certain that no detail was overlooked and no compromises were made in the pursuit of this mission.
The dials have been inspired by the planet’s magnificent ocean seabeds and mountain terrains, its very textures a reminder of the organic side of the company’s design nature. Available in 36mm and 40mm sizes, the Awake watch is also water resistant to 100m. The watch itself also utilizes solar technology to ensure it is fully powered by nature. Rounding out the unboxing experience is packaging that is created using 100% recycled and recyclable FSC paper, which is 15% lighter than a standard cardboard box.
"Low quality goods and planned obsolescence have created more products than we ever needed. Over the past ten years, we've produced more plastic than during all of the last century. With more than 22,000 tons of plastic waste entering our oceans every day, this issue isn't going away any time soon. There must be a better way to produce and consume goods!” adds co-founder Fred LY. “We decided to take a stance at it and tackle the problem. This is why we put sustainability and ethics at the core of everything we do. Being both watch enthusiasts was the opportunity to start with a product we love, but also an object that could become a sign of recognition for a community of people sharing the same sustainable values.”
