HeroZona Foundation, Cohn Family to Give Away Luxury Bags to First Responders and Veterans

PHOENIX, Sept. 3, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Travis L. Williams American Legion Post 65 (1624 E. Broadway Rd.) in Phoenix, a veteran's service organization dedicated to giving back to the South Phoenix community, is excited to announce it will officially reopen on September 11 after being closed for more than five months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"September 11 is a day for mourning, but also a day for healing for Americans," says Travis L. Williams American Legion Post 65 Commander, Jarvis Reddick. "We are choosing this date to reopen so that all veterans, first responders and the community have a place to remember those who were lost in the tragedy. Post 65 is a safe haven and we are ready to welcome back our Legion family after so many months of chaos and strife."

On the reopening date, and over the course of the weekend while supplies last, community partner HeroZona Foundation will be giving away limited edition Bota Hydration Backpacks to all first responders, active military, veterans and Post 65 members who purchase $20 or more at the Post's restaurant, All About Food, courtesy of real estate mogul Andrew Cohn, his wife Amy and daughter Alexa. The giveaway is limited to one backpack per individual with a valid I.D. between the hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The $20 spending requirement will extend to the Post's bar, alongside the restaurant's menu.

In preparation for the reopening, HeroZona Foundation Founder, U.S. Army Desert Storm Veteran and the Post's Second Vice Commander, Alan "AP" Powell, brought in Noral Clean Technologies to perform the state-of-the-art BioProtect System at the legion. The Post will be following all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reopening guidelines, including operating on limited capacity, a modified dining layout for added space between tables, required face coverings worn by staff and patrons when not eating, increased cleaning and disinfection processes and more.

All About Food will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Post's bar will be available for patrons Tuesday through Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The community can also order dishes for delivery via the ChowNow platform in conjunction with the DoorDash app.

The Travis L. Williams Post 65 is made up of 900 members, including the Sons of the American Legion, Auxiliaries and Legionnaires. The Post's four pillars include assisting Veteran Affairs, Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism and Children and Youth.

The legion hosts annual community programs for the South Phoenix community in partnership with the HeroZona Foundation.
