Hotels heat up in Nanjing, with more than 1,300 new rooms coming by the end of 2021
The capital of Jiangsu Province has its fair share of impressive hotels, but things are heating up with nearly 50 new hotels set to open through 2024, including more than 1,300 rooms by the end of this year. Luxury is on the rise in Nanjing as 26 four-star and 20 five-star hotels are planned.
NEW YORK, Oct. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The capital of Jiangsu Province has its fair share of impressive hotels, but things are heating up with nearly 50 new hotels set to open through 2024, including more than 1,300 rooms by the end of this year. Luxury is on the rise in Nanjing as 26 four-star and 20 five-star hotels are planned.
A development boom is underway around the newly opened Jiangsu Garden Expo in the eastern area of Tangshan, known for its hot springs and rich mining history which is reflected throughout the designs of multiple hotels. Accommodations that have opened in recent months include the 115-room Banyan Tree Garden Expo, built into a valley hidden by a cascading cliff-top waterfall. The resort focuses on restoration and wellbeing, and each room includes its own hot spring pool. The new Hotel Indigo Garden Expo showcases stunning mountain and hot spring views, an atrium with ore art pieces suspended from above, and an all-day restaurant inspired by a geologist's tent at the base of the mine. A 110-room Autograph Collection hotel and 130-room voco Nanjing Garden Expo are also now open, in addition to the Radisson Collection Resort Nanjing Garden Expo and the 247-room Westin Nanjing Resort & Spa.
Elsewhere, the 176-room Moxy Nanjing-Jiangning, the playful brand's first hotel in China, opened this month at the intersection of Jiangning Development Zone, Hightech Zone and Dongshan Old Town, just 15 minutes from Nanjing South Railway and 30 minutes from Nanjing Lukou Airport.
Some of the most anticipated new entries for 2022 include the five-star, 300-room W Hotel Nanjing Huaqiao City which is set to open just a short distance from attractions like Xuanwu Lake, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial and Purple Mountain. Its architectural design will be based on traditional cultural features such as gateways, lamps and folding fans which will be found throughout the property. Nanjing Marriott Hotel Agile Huigang City is also scheduled to debut the Nanjing Binjiang Free Trade Zone along the Yangtze River. This 200-room hotel will be part of a major mixed-use development, complete with residential towers, office buildings, luxury retail outlets and even a theme park.
