MIDDLESEX, N.J., Sept. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Rx-Safety, the leader in prescription safety glasses, offers an extensive inventory of prescription safety glasses for work or play. Whether a customer works in challenging conditions at their day job or is simply a hobbyist who needs additional eye protection, he or she is sure to find the perfect pair of prescription safety glasses in the Rx-Safety store.

As with shopping for any items, however, price is a necessary factor to consider. For as great as a specific pair of prescription safety glasses may be, the actual price of those prescription safety glasses may be cost-prohibitive. Even though Rx-Safety is known for selling some of the highest quality prescription safety glasses at the most competitive prices, it is in customers' interests to have a better understanding of the general costs of prescription safety glasses. Doing so will help them avoid sticker shock and will help them make the best possible decisions.

A Primer on the Costs of Prescription Safety Glasses

Upon visiting Rx-Safety's website, customers will immediately notice that prescription safety glasses come in a spectrum of costs. For example, the RX-70F line of prescription safety glasses comes out to $20 for the frame only. The RX-17013E line costs $35 for the frame and the RX-202 line costs $45 for the frame. On the opposite side of the spectrum, however, customers will find prescription safety glasses that start at $69.99 (the RX-456 line and the RX-691 line) and as high as $117 (the Wiley X Aspect line).

While these are the approximate costs for the frames themselves, the final costs of prescription safety glasses depend on a variety of factors. A good number of those factors are centered on the lenses that are used in these prescription safety glasses.

Ultimately, there are different types of lens options that customers can select from. Single vision lenses, for instance, are some of the most common types of prescription lenses. They feature one prescription power throughout the entire lens and can be a good choice for reading glasses or seeing objects or people at certain distances. Beyond single vision lenses, there are also lined bifocal FT-28 lenses. These lenses can offer dual benefits. They can help customers see at certain distances while also providing them with the ability to read text at close distances. The FT-28 is the most popular FT bifocal and that is 28 millimeters wide. From lined bifocal FT-28 lenses customers can also take advantage of digital single vision lenses, which utilize cutting-edge digital technology to help minimize distortion and increase the clarity of wearers' vision. Finally, customers can purchase progressive bifocals, which allow customers to do close-up work, middle-distance work, and distance viewing without the need to change their lenses.

These four options can play a significant role in the overall cost of a customer's prescription safety glasses. For example, on the Rx-Safety website, customers will find that single vision lenses are often free. Lined bifocal FT-28 lenses can cost approximately $25. Digital single vision lenses are around $20 and progressive bifocals can be $35. However, the precise costs may vary based on the particular frame that is being purchased.

Along with the lens type that is selected, the lens color can impact the overall cost of a pair of prescription safety glasses. Often, clear lenses are free. But having said this, if a customer wants to add additional personality to his or her prescription safety glasses, they can purchase a wide range of different lens colors. Looking at the Rx-Safety inventory, customers can choose from colors like yellow, orange, dark brown, light grey, and others. If customers want to take advantage of Transition lenses—which automatically darken in the sun and lighten in darker environments—they can purchase those as well. There is not one universal price for these different colors; rather, customers will need to look at their preferred color to find the price. That said, the prices range from $10 or $20 for certain colors to close to $90 for certain types of Transition lenses.

From lens color, a determinant on the final price of prescription safety glasses are the lens materials. On the Rx-Safety website, customers can find different types of lens materials, ranging from polycarbonate 1.59, trivex, high index plastic 1.67, high index plastic 1.74, and standard glass 1.53. Each of these different lens materials varies in terms of cost. For example, polycarbonate 1.59 lenses may come at no additional cost while trivex lenses can cost an additional $15. High index lenses, on the other hand, can be slightly pricier due to their high-quality material. For instance, high index plastic 1.67 lenses can cost an additional $25 while high index plastic 1.74 can cost up to an additional $80. Finally, standard glass 1.53 can cost an additional $45.

In the Rx-Safety store, customers can also find lens coatings that can help them see even more clearly, whether they are on the road or are wearing their prescription safety glasses on an extremely sunny day. For example, customers can include scratch coating (approximately $10) or UV protection ($10) on their lenses. Anti-reflective lens coating and mirror lens coating are additional options, giving customers the freedom to customize their prescription safety lenses for their custom, unique needs. This additional anti-reflective lens coating or mirror lens coating ranges in price from $40 to $50.

Finally, a significant factor that affects the overall price of prescription safety glasses centers on brand name. Like other products, certain prescription safety glasses cost more than their counterparts because of a brand premium. Wiley X prescription safety glasses, for instance, will likely cost more than other prescription safety glasses simply because of the positive brand equity that surrounds Wiley X.

The Rx-Safety team works hard to keep prices as low as possible for customers—regardless of the brand that they are contemplating. But having said that, customers will notice that the Rx-Safety line of prescription safety glasses is often less expensive than Wiley X prescription safety glasses or other premium brands in this space. Nevertheless, cheaper prescription safety glasses does not mean that customers will suffer on quality. The Rx-Safety team ensures that its prescription safety glasses line is functional, durable, and will look great on the faces of all customers. Ultimately, their commitment to quality is what makes their line of prescription safety glasses a compelling option for purchasers of all ages.

Understanding the Costs

Whether a customer is purchasing prescription safety glasses for the first or tenth time, it is certainly in their best interest to understand the spectrum of costs for different types of prescription safety glasses. Doing this preliminary work will help customers find prescription safety glasses that they not only love, but that fit the constraints of their budget.

Rx-Safety is proud to offer prescription safety glasses of all shapes, sizes, and costs. To learn more about Rx-Safety's collection and possible customization options, check out Rx-Safety's website. There, customers can browse the different types of prescription safety glasses and create their perfect pair. By doing so, they can see how adding certain features or options affects the overall price of their new pair of prescription safety glasses.
