IACET Offers Comprehensive Training Course on Digital Badging – Open Digital Badge Xperience 1.0 (ODBX 1.0)
HERNDON, Va. (PRWEB) February 19, 2019 -- The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) announces the Open Digital Badge Xperience 1.0 (ODBX 1.0), a comprehensive training course on open digital badge program implementation and management. The ODBX course is designed to be the best single learning opportunity to fill the badging knowledge niche in an adult learning organization. The full course is delivered in two parts, an online self-pace component, followed by a one-day live education event being offered in Chicago on April 26, Washington D.C. on May 3, and New York on May 10. Targeted at the adult learning community, the course is designed for those individuals who oversee and administer their company’s adult learning programs. Upon completion, participants will be armed with the knowledge to fully implement and manage an effective ODB initiative at their organization.
In 2016, IACET took note of the emergence of digital badges for achievements recognition and seized on a leadership moment. It recently concluded a two-year research project culminating in the newly established IACET 2018-1 Standard for Continuing Education and Training which establishes protocols on record-keeping and transcripts maintenance. ODBX 1.0 was derived from that research and the new standard. The course delivers a toolkit to help program administrators scale their continuing education seamlessly in the face of rapid technological change and the ever-growing demand for digital. Joe McClary, IACET’s chief executive officer, notes, “While paper certificates will certainly suffice in showcasing achievements, they can quickly become outdated, can be forged, and cannot be shared inside online job banks or on professional social media networks, such as LinkedIn.” To underscore the need for a comprehensive digital badging education program, McClary cited an Orbis Research report that predicts 29.3 percent growth of digital badging through 2025, coupled with IACET’s own findings that only 23 percent of their member survey respondents use or even know what digital badges are.
Companies that have already adopted a digital badging strategy now have data that showcases significant gains in all the performance markers of their educational programs. In fact, it is proven that open digital badges maximize earner satisfaction, cultivate greater learner enrollment and engagement, result in higher course completion rates, spike additional education pursuits and generate viral marketing of the organization’s educational offerings. The impact of these gains helps adult learning organizations attract and retain learners, a cornerstone in maintaining a viable continuing education program. “Adult learning providers need to embrace digital badging now,” notes McClary. “To leverage the amazing benefits of 21st century credentialing technology, organizations must have someone prepared to implement these powerful tools in the right way which is what ODBX is designed to do. This is the course that learning experts need to properly scale their programs inside a landscape of ever-evolving technology.” Registration for ODBX 1.0 is open now.
