Dallas Home Health Company Introduces Online Training to Advance
Skills of Caregivers and Safety of Clients
Home Health Companions, a licensed home health provider, has launched Home Health Companions University through the Texas Association for Homecare & Hospice and the Center for Business and Workforce Education at Rochester Community and Technical College in Rochester, Minnesota.
This 51-hour training program provides Home Health Companions' employees with paid continuing education focused on providing in-home care for clients. Course topics include dementia care basics, how to handle anxiety in older adults, assisting with activity and exercise, administering medications and advanced communications skills. Certificates are awarded upon course completion.
The idea for the University arose from a desire to protect clients and caregivers by proactively educating them around COVID-19 virus and other healthcare related issues. Home Health Companions University provides caregivers advanced skills training and access to information that will increase their expertise and understanding when working with elderly clients.
