PROVINCETOWN, Mass. (PRWEB) April 17, 2019 -- Monday, April 15th was Patriots Day which commemorates the first battle of the American Revolutionary War. For Massachusetts locals, it’s a day off so it was a great time for a long weekend trip to Provincetown. Visitors had opportunities to connect with the town’s history; visit the Provincetown Art Association Museum to learn about the vibrant Provincetown art scene; take a trip to the top of the Pilgrim Monument for some breath-taking views; or stroll through town to browse the Commercial St. shops and soak up the rich history.
The 4th annual Provincetown Public Library Moby Dick Marathon Reading is happening from April 26th - 28th. The three-day reading of the 19th-century masterpiece will bring together the historical appreciation and support of the arts with the rich history of whaling in Provincetown. The local literary, art, theater, and academic communities will come together for the event, with 120 participants reading Melville’s classic work aloud over a total of 24 hours. Over the past few years, over 1,000 guests have gathered to hear excerpts or the entirety of the great American classic. This event is free and open to the public.
Miss Gay Massachusetts US of A Weekend kicks off with the Royalty in Review (April 13-14). Join past winners from the Massachusetts and national pageants for a night of music, singing, and comedy. Then, on Sunday, April 14th watch as a new winner is crowned Miss Gay Massachusetts US of A. This is an event you will not want to miss!
The annual Spring Stomp: A Hoedown in P-town (April 26-28) swings into town with three dances and five workshops where you can learn line dancing, two-step, the waltz, and more. The lively event is produced by Gays for Patsy Dance Club, which promotes country-western style dancing for the LGBTQ community in and around Boston. Spend the weekend learning to dance, practicing your skills, and meeting tons of new people!
Whale Watching Season officially begins mid-April at Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch.
